Sepsis Treatment And Research (STAR) Symposium 2024

Dear Colleagues,

It is my great pleasure to announce the 1^st Sepsis Treatment And Research (STAR) Symposium, which will be held in Vecsés, Hungary, 13 September 2024, and I would like to invite all doctors involved in the care of critically ill patients to this exciting and tradition-creating new event. Please save the date in your calendar!

We invited acknowledged international experts and key opinion leaders in the field of intensive and critical care medicine, and the program of the symposium aimed to present the most important elements and latest research results related to the care of critically ill patients suffering from sepsis and septic shock. In four sections we will discuss hot topics including respiratory and hemodynamic monitoring and support, extracorporeal life support and blood purification, sepsis associated coagulopathy, effects of continuous renal replacement therapy on the pharmacokinetics of different drugs, adjuvant therapeutic options, monitoring sedation and analgesia to prevent pain and delirium, nutrition, and last but not least we will commemorate the legacy of our good friend – Prof. Alan Šustić (1965-2023) - by presenting the important role of nurses. In the fifth section interesting and instructive cases will also be presented.

Beyond the academic program, our meeting will offer an exceptional opportunity to discuss opinions and views, develop cooperation and a common way of thinking, share experiences, and create social networks for a better intensive and critical care. According to our plans, STAR will be held bi-annually as a satellite symposium of the previously highly successful SepsEast Congress. It will take place in a brand new, fancy and cozy venue, the Eprespark Event Centre, Vecsés. Those who cannot attend in person can also participate in the event in a hybrid way, online.

In my opinion, if we take a look at the topics of the professional program and the list of speakers, there will be no doubt that we are facing a high-quality event, to which we warmly welcome everyone! Let’s meet in autumn at the 1^st STAR Symposium in Vecsés!
