Prof. Jan Beneš, MD, PhD
Professor Jan Benes, MD, PhD graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Plzeň, Charles University, Czech Republic in 2004, and started working on the Department of anesthesiology and intensive care medicine at University teaching hospital.
He reached the PhD title in 2012, Associate professor in 2014, and in 2020 full professor degree of Anesthesia and intensive care medicine. Awarded by the resident research contest during the Postgraduate assembly in New York (2009), Young teaching recognition award by ESA in 2013, and received the Albert Schweitzer award by the French Embassy in Czech Republic. Has several foreign clerckships, for instance at ICU Cremlin Bicetre, Paris (by Prof. JL.Teboul).
His main research topics are hemodynamics in the critical state and anesthesia, fluid therapy and sepsis including large animal model in the Biomedical center of the Faculty of medicine in Plzeň, Charles University.
He is the current Head of the SepsEast Forum, initiated in 2012 by a group of experts by Professor Zsolt Molnar (Hungary) and connecting several institutions of East and Central Europe aimed at raising public and scientific awareness of sepsis.
