 Dear Colleagues\,\nIt is my great pleasure to announce the 1st Sepsis Trea
 tment And Research (STAR) Symposium\, which will be held in Vecsés\, Hunga
 ry\, 13 September 2024\, and I would like to invite all doctors involved i
 n the care of critically ill patients to this exciting and tradition-creat
 ing new event. Please save the date in your calendar!\nWe invited acknowle
 dged international experts and key opinion leaders in the field of intensi
 ve and critical care medicine\, and the program of the symposium aimed to 
 present the most important elements and latest research results related to
  the care of critically ill patients suffering from sepsis and septic shoc
 k. In four sections we will discuss hot topics including respiratory and h
 emodynamic monitoring and support\, extracorporeal life support and blood 
 purification\, sepsis associated coagulopathy\, effects of continuous rena
 l replacement therapy on the pharmacokinetics of different drugs\, adjuvan
 t therapeutic options\, monitoring sedation and analgesia to prevent pain 
 and delirium\, nutrition\, and last but not least we will commemorate the 
 legacy of our good friend – Prof. Alan Šustić (1965-2023) - by presenting 
 the important role of nurses. In the fifth section interesting and instruc
 tive cases will also be presented.\nBeyond the academic program\, our meet
 ing will offer an exceptional opportunity to discuss opinions and views\, 
 develop cooperation and a common way of thinking\, share experiences\, and
  create social networks for a better intensive and critical care. Accordin
 g to our plans\, STAR will be held bi-annually as a satellite symposium of
  the previously highly successful SepsEast Congress. It will take place in
  a brand new\, fancy and cozy venue\, the Eprespark Event Centre\, Vecsés.
  Those who cannot attend in person can also participate in the event in a 
 hybrid way\, online.\nIn my opinion\, if we take a look at the topics of t
 he professional program and the list of speakers\, there will be no doubt 
 that we are facing a high-quality event\, to which we warmly welcome every
 one! Let’s meet in autumn at the 1st STAR Symposium in Vecsés!\nWe are loo
